Regarding Paper #2: Yeliz and Kevin will work on the datamining piece.
We want 6000 or so records for various projects.
- Data: Use of trackers, number of bugs, number of members, number of committers, length of time of group membership (longetivity-- if the median is < average then it might be because)
- Hypothesis: Groups with extensive communications perform better.
- Hypothesis: Strong correlation between communications patterns and group structure (hierarchy, efficiency, lobness and connectedness) but we don't have them for Sourceforge.
- Other potential findings out of the data mining?
- What would be a DV that we can use?
○ Group Success: Group synergy (it is known by asking to people in the community)-- So that wouldn't work for now.
○ Knowledge Sharing: Is there a good measure for knowledge sharing?
